What is the current (2010 or 2011) body routing for the mim strats and the Floyd Rose standard strat? HSH, HSS, or SSS? I need to know the routing of those strats so that I could buy one and make my own Dave Murray strat HSH.

Hi IronMaidengeek,

The body routing will depend on the model. The MIM models like the "Classic Series", "Classic Players" 50s, 60s, and 70s models all have vintage SSS routing. The Mexican Models like the Standards, Jimmie Vaughan and Deluxe Players that I've seen have HSS routing, but the single routes are bigger than the vintage size, doesn't look like a humbucker will fit. The American Standard, American Deluxe, Billy Corgan, Jeff Beck and other US bodies have HSH body routing, and there were some others that were routed HH. There is also the older US bodies that are "swimming pool" route that will take HSH pickups. You can look at some bodies here (first link) to see if there are any that would work. There is a Dave Murray USA body (second link), and another that comes with a loaded pick guard. The Charvel So-Cal Pro Mod BODY & FLOYD ROSE TREMOLO might be what you want for less money (third link). :)
