I have one question ..

I have a model american Fender Jazz bass deluxe year 02'
and saw that these new models have, passive and active switch.
whether it could be mounted such switch, on my jazz bass 2002 year.

and would of course need to complete the process and the scheme.

thanks

My friend made a modification, and added a toggle switch
the Fender American Deluxe Model 02 '

Now I do not have to worry
if the power runs out in the middle of playing.

I hope that someone else is doing such a modification and enjoying the peace of mind playing

The 2010 Deluxes had a second stack pot for the good ol' passive tone control which functions in passive mode.

If you want to add passive tone, you'll probably need to perform some mods on your bass.

Hope Fender will release a schematic diagram for the 2010 Deluxe as a PDF file soon.

Hi all,

Sorry for resurrecting this thread but I did think very important to help other people. I made a wiring diagram to switch between active and passive modes in active Fender basses. This scheme makes a true by pass in the circuit board (Fender Part Number 0054137000 or 0056012008) and so lets you use the resistance of 250k in passive mode and 25k in active mode, as should actually work each mode. The battery stays on all the time and this was done on purpose, because when you connect the battery, it takes time to get stocked the circuit and this causes noise and delay, hindering the live performance. All you need is a 250K push-pull pot, a 27.8k carbon resistor and some pieces of wire. In active mode, the operation will be exactly as coming from the factory. In passive mode, only VOLUME and PAN pots will work (TONE control will not exist, but I believe that it is not essential). Enjoy!

Savio- do you stay over on the guitar boards? I'm not familiar with your posts but I could certainly use your help once in awhile when I get stumped. Or if I want to use your active passive switching on my Squire Jaguar. It's different than the Deluxe. At least I need someone to ask some questions to.

Feel free to ask, my friend. If I know how to answer, certainly I will do.

I did the mod above in the Fender Deluxe Jazz Bass of the bass player of my band and last night we experienced the instrument. The bass was perfect. Great sound in passive and active modes. He was very happy with the result. The modification is approved in practice.
