Hello to all the good people of the forum!
I am new here, so just wanted to say HELLO!

Also, have a question - today I stumbled across a 2000 American
Deluxe Power Tele, asking price $1,100.00
It is cream, with maroon pearl binding around the top of the body, maroon pearl pick guard, in very good shape.

Unfortunately, not much info is available on it.
I know it was in production only for 2 years and then stopped, which may mean issues????
I read some reviews on Harmony Central, did not find much on Youtube...

I would much appreciate any and all info available.

Overall reliability, Battery life, any issues, impressions, etc,....

Thank you in advance!

Lenny.

The USA Power Tele is essentially an American Deluxe Telecaster with a Fishman Powerbridge. It was produced only two years then discontinued.

This guitar had a mini-toggle switch to blend the Powerbridge with the two Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups or choose between the magnetic and the piezo. There was also a 12dB mid-boost circuit for the piezos and a special "sub-rumble" switch on the rear side of the guitar.

The USA Power Tele was offered in 3-Color Sunburst (alder), Black (alder), Crimson Red Transparent (alder), White Blonde (ash), Natural (ash), Teal Green Transparent (ash), or Purple Transparent (ash). Other features included a select alder or premium ash body (depending on color), bound top with belly cut, a modern C-shape maple neck with abalone dot position markers, rosewood or maple fingerboard, 9.5" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, deluxe cast/sealed machine heads, two Fender Vintage Noiseless Tele pickups in the neck and bridge positions, 3-way switching, aged white/black/white pickguard (brown shell on White Blonde and Natural colors), Fender 250L strings, a black tolex case, a strap and a stereo insert cable.

Thanks, Chromeface!
That is the exact guitar I am considering. That color too...
Do you own one?
Or do you have any personal experience with it?

Unfortunately, no.

If I owned one, one of my primary intentions was to replace the Vintage Noiseless neck pickup and the 3-way selector with a chrome-covered Seymour Duncan SH-1b humbucker and a 5-way megapole switch. This guitar would be much more versatile in my taste with a humbucker in the neck.

Not one to argue with my esteemed colleague, but what you might want to do with the stock pickups should be up to you.
I have very recently purchased exactly the Telecaster you were looking at from the nice folks in an alt-coutry band and it is one beatiful instrument. It is my first genuine Fender Telecaster, and let's just say I now understand what all the fuss has been about.
Accordingly, I hope you made the leap and picked up the one you were considering.

I have one with 3-tone sunburst rosewood.

It's a nice tele but the sounds is not hot enough for me to play my music.

I have changed the bridge pickup to Dimarzio Super distortion Humbucker...now it sound...perfect! with accoustic, with tele-twang sound, with hot-rock distortion...perfect!

Certainly I'm still learning the sonic possibilities of my 98, but without doubt the ability to so accurately emulate an acoustic brings a whole new range of possibilities whether performing, just playing in your livingroom, and even composing as you can easily switch between instruments without having to resort to recording seperate tracks that you can't replicate on stage. Hmm, maybe that's why they did it in the first place . . .

Pete Townshend has many of his Teles fitted with the Powerbridge. Same thing for his Les Pauls and SGs.

The Powerbridge came into the scene when Pete modded his Clapton signatures with Fishman piezos.
