So here it is the start of my 70's Telecaster build.
Not near as indepth as Ceri's masterpiece, but fun all the same.
I am open to suggestions, critique and advice. That's why I posted it here instead of the Tele area.

Here is the body. A 50's cut in Ash wood.
I am hoping to do a 3 tone sunburst. I would NEVER even consider painting over this grain.

Here is the back.

I am gonna pickup some ash pieces to test out the stains with on first.
It is an alcohol stain, so no shellac. I will have to hit it with a poly topcoat.

More to follow as i get more pieces and work done.-N 8)

Oh, too cool! 8)

Can't wait to see where this goes: many eyes will be watching!

Where does the body come from, may we ask? I wonder what "BA015" in the cavity means?

Big enthusiasm coming at you from this direction, BN. Have at it!

:D - C

PS Not the first toes we've seen on the Forum. Always good to collect more - though I seem to remember Orvilleowner objects to other people's feet in pictures...

I hit my first snag the neck I recieved for this was damaged enroute.
This came today.....
Image
The seven frets from the base up crooked and warped....
Image
The heel is busted up too..
It's ok though,
A replacement is on the way.
Maybe I should send this to Ceri and see if he can't work his magic.

So now I wait, I will post the other parts soon.-N 8)

I can - but better still, so can you. Those little bits will easily glue back in with some slightly watered down aliphatic glue (Titebond Original). Even easier if you haven't pulled them right off already. And then - two necks for the price of one. Bingo! :D

BTW: for once the search facility lead me straight to the page I was looking for. Here's Orville on toes:

Shall we all post pictures of our feet...?

Thanks Ceri!!
I ordered the body from reddirtguitars.com, they have some really beautifull bodies. As my woodworking skill is limited I had to buy this one. Not sure what the code means, probably a model sku for ordering.
My foot always ends up in my guitar pics somehow  . BTW that isn't nail polish on my toes. I dropped a cabinet corner on the first two. They are soon on their way from red to black... ouch.-N 8)

Good luck on the build BN,you have a beautifully grained piece of lumber to make a start on.You are right in saying that it would be a sin to cover that grain with an opaque colour,a grain like that needs to be seen.Hope you keep us up to date with a detailed play by play.

Looking forward to this one BN (been toying with the idea of tele-partscaster, so your thread will be very handy indeed!)

Ok while we are waiting for the neck I will show some of the hardware I have.
Here is the neck plate, your basic 70's F logo 4 bolt, and 70's reissue tuners.
