Hi folks
Can anyone tell me what size fret wire is standard on Strats ?
Does this change for any of the reissue/commemorative models, particularly a '04 50th anniversary ?

Thanks, very much

Thanks 'Jay !
The problem I've had with terms like "medium jumbo" is that they mean different things to different people, however, The Dunlop page I've just found nails medium jumbo to 6130 frets. I'll assume FMIC is on board with that terminology.

Now,....what color Strat should I get  (kidding)

Mike

Industry standard ? I thought of these terms as being slang. I'd think industry standard would be the Dunlop numeric designations, but then, I'm not in the industry. I think there are so many sizes of fretwire available these days that people don't know how to interpret "vintage" vs "jumbo" , etc.

But now,.....NOW that I have the Dunlop bible, it's all numbers baby - ,....I just have to make sure the slang is comming from someone in the industry rather than "Boogers Guitars" :D

6230 This is the smallest wire found in older Fender necks. Size: .078" x .043"
6150 Vintage jumbo. Much wider but not as tall as the 6230. Size: .102" x .042"
6105 Contemporary narrow and tall, a very popular choice. Size: .090" x .055"
6100 This is Jumbo, the biggest guitar wire available. Size: .110" x .055
6130 Often refered to as Medium Jumbo. Size: 106" x .036"

mjo use these numbers as bru. states above on post.
