I'm looking for a bare SSS stratocaster. No electronics, pick guard, tuners, bridge. I want just the body and neck that is fretted. I want the neck and body to match with s/n if possible. Anyone know where I might be able to buy one?

Fender put the serial number in one of 2 places on modern Strats, the neck or the neck plate.
In the 70s, some also had the serial number on the back of the pickguard, but you are going to be in for a loooong search to find a body and neck with a matching serial number on a sticker in a body cavity... I'm not sure they ever did that.
It really would be cheaper to buy a gently used Performer/American Special/Highway One and strip it.

Under $200 and you could put whatever serial # you want on it.
Or you could buy a licensed Fender neck and body from Fender or a slew of places, but it'll cost a bit more..

With this, I think like CB91710 above; "I'm not sure they ever did that."
Fender's way of making guitars has been to take a body from a pile, take a neck from a pile, mix those, add embellishments.
That system gave one serial number for the finished instrument, either on the neck or on the body, but I don't think I've ever seen a Strat with a factory marked serial on both. Might have happened, though - always expect the unexpected with Fender. So I wish you luck on the quest.

Might be easier to try searching for a neck and body with the same manufacturing date...

Thanks for all the info. I think I'll go with a body & neck from Stewmac. At least I'll know the body & neck are new and free of any nicks, scratches and stuff.

Stewmac is a great company. All of the Swamp Ash bodies I've seen from them have been nicely matched for grain with good color and weight.

Share some pics of your strat build if it's done!

I didn't build a Strat kit. I have built a LP kit from Stew-Mac and would agree that for the price it's a good value as long as you put sufficient time into the build process. I finished my LP in Feb '19 and posted a pic on the Stew-Mac site.
