The nice new Vintera series made me think: do you think guitar nostalgia will ever come to include models from the 1980s? Personally I would love to see that happen. There were some cool models back then,such as the 83/84 Elite models,the Contemporary series from the mid 80s and of course my favourites:the Performer and Katana models. I guess I feel that it’s a bit too optimistic to hope for 80s guitar reissues,as I suspect there’s not a whole lot of interest in the market. What do you think?

Certain models from the 80s have already attained some increased monetary value ... if money is how you gauge these things and I think it usually is.
If you've ever perused Xhefri's website you've likely seen some delicious looking guitars from the later 80s selling for big dollars as well as some pretty stellar Partsocaster builds based the hardware and configurations used in those 80s models which also are quite desirable and pricey.

From what I've seen lately, a lot of teens and twenty-somethings have a facination with the Reagan Era, and I am guessing that will translate at some point into an increased interest in 80s vintage guitars. It seems, in fact, to be happening already. A friend of mine was out a metal show the other night and commented that she saw not one but *two* Steinberger headless guitars being played on stage.

The best guitars of the 80's are pretty pricey and collectible already.

The list is strong, but will likely grow a little bit w/ time.

I've been wondering about those, too. The short life span says they weren't all that good (plus, the pickup rep isn't very flattering), but on the other hand, the active electronics and the dummy coil wiring may just have been too far ahead of their time.

BTW, Squier has the "Contemporary" series on their menu - and the basic idea is the same as in the eighties; targeting hard/metal/heavy players with a budget selection.
