I can see your point about things failing a short time after they're purchased. You'll find some thing for a better price to work just as good, or better.

Yeah, I think with certain things, you do get what you pay for, and sometimes you can get lucky and not even have to pay a lot for them, either.

The Mustang is one of the lower priced Fenders, and plays fine. I like the PJ I have, it's a real kicker. I still have to go with the GL over it. But if the GL wasn't available to me, and I had to choose one, the Fender Special Edition Deluxe PJ Bass would be it.

Does the Mustang and the Precision you have now have the same P and J pickups in it, or are they different types? They are both MIM, aren't they?

They are both MIM, the Mustang uses a vintage pair of pups, and the PJ Precision has the noiseless pups.

OK, so they're different then. Out of curiosity, I looked to see what the Player Series has, and it said it was something called Player Series Alnico 5 Split Single-Coil Precision Bass. That was the Precision model, and the Jazz had a similar named one. So whatever that is, Who knows if it's just a renamed pickup for what they've had already.

Alnico 5 pups were the pups on the Am. Std. Jazz, and Precision until 2012, when they went to the CS60's. Alnico 5's a damn nice pup series.

Well, they got them in the Player Series basses, which by the way, seem to look pretty nice. Maybe they upped their game with the Standard MIM basses. The only thing that sucks, is they don't offer any maple boards for the Jazz Basses, just the Precision ones. I haven't completely abandoned the idea of maybe eventually going back to a Jazz or even a Precision, even though I was quicker on the Ibanez. I think I'd like to do one with a maple board, though. You know, something different, and I don't have to worry about the wood shrinking, like on a rosewood board.

Both of mine are Maple, and I'm not sure I want to go back to a non Maple board if I can help it. Too bad the Players Series doesn't have any Jazzes with Maple boards. The Roger Waters Precision looks better all the time.

Yeah, the previous Standard Jazz Basses had maple board options, I don't know why these don't. I wish they did, but at least there's the Precision models.

I agree, it makes no sense at all to not offer Maple fretboards on Jazzes. Oh well,..........

They may have intentions of doing Maple, and haven't posted them yet also. Or not.

Well, there were a few times within the Standard Series that they didn't really offer maple boards, and eventually did put some out. I also remember when there was a few times where they didn't have that many finish options, either. I guess this all goes in various cycles.
