To all my fellow Canucks-Have a good one! Canada Day has a special meaning for Newfoundlanders as it was on July 1,1916 701 NL soldiers "went over the top" at The Battle Of The Somme at Beaumont Hamel in France. The next morning only 68 soldiers answered role call and 633 were either killed, wounded or MIA.It was found out many years later that their deaths were in vain and that were knowingly sent to their slaughter by overzealous, incompetent British Generals.A bomb that had been tunneled under a German artillary bunker had failed to detonate and had left our soldiers fully suseptable to German bullets and bombs yet at 7 A:M on July 1,1916 our soldiers were sent to their almost certain deaths. So we have mixed emotions on Canada Day as it is also the day we honor our war dead.

To all my forum buddies from Canada, Happy Canada Day! I will be an honorary canadian for the next 3 years as I report into the Canadian Army as an exchange officer in a few weeks! Can't wait! So if any of you are ever in Kingston drop me a line and we will raise a few pints and jam on our beloved Fenders!
ABS :D

----Danny,

I spent today in Toronto watching the Phillies/Blue Jays game at Rogers Stadium. Traffic was INSANE at the local border crossings. And the QEW was very slow go all the way to Niagara Falls (it almost looked like an emergency evacuation out of TO!).

But still a very nice day (perfect weather for a game) -- hope everyone north of the border is enjoying their Canada Day weekend!

HAPPY CANADA DAY EH ?! 2018

Happy Canada Day to all the Canucks, both new and old
. . . and a Big Hello and best wishes for a great day to all the Lizards and friends the world over.

This is how we Canadians roll in this neck of the woods. But, we Rock like y'all, :D

Cheers!
FSB

Update: In 1867 the Constitution Act was signed on this day, July 1. However, since the celebrated day falls on a Sunday the big celebrations will be tomorrow, July 2; however we celebrate the long weekend. Fireworks hit the skies last night. That’s clear as mud, huh?

Happy Canada Day guys. Now sing, "Oh Canada", it's a grand Canadian National Anthem.

A big thank you, my friend. Have a terrific day. I’m guessing a few Canucks are in your grand neighbourhood. We’re glad to
have the neighbours we do.

I do not want to berate Canada in a "Canada Day" thread as that would be very poor form on my part (hence, a lot of this post has been deleted prior to posting ... LOL).

So ... let's just give Canada their rightful credit for their number one export:
