You know that's a good instrument and rig when you do that. 8)

That's the way my Jazzes play also. I haven't had the time to really Ramble Play, as I call it, with the Rickenbacker 4003 yet. It's nice to do that, just free your mind as you play.

It's been a long time since I've done that, too. The last time I played extensively was when I first hooked up the Celestion for the 18" and was able to run that and the 2x10" cab together.

When you get a chance, Ramble Play, even for a short time. Image

It took me a bit of time to locate the Bassman in a place in the room, to where the whole room didn't shake.

This one plays better than the Ric, no two ways about it. Not just the sound, but the action on the neck is great. very smooth, and quick.

And with that statement, goes the Ric. :P

It was gone the other day. I'm very serious about this Precision being a fine player. I didn't need both. The two Jazzes are locked in. Fenders across the board.

I've noticed that the Ric is always the first one to catch hell. :P I had a feeling that was going to happen when you were saying it being a pain in the $@!. It looked nice, though. I guess if you're not 100% happy with it, then no point in hanging on to it, even if it's a discontinued finish. Did you get your money back and put it towards the P-Bass?

Yep, towards the Precision, and a couple of other pesky bills.

Unfortunately I know what you mean I owned a Ric for 16 years, and as good as it was I could never get the action how I wanted it. Yet the Precision which I asked for it to be set-up back when I bought it new in Jan '15, has been solid and stable since, even swapping the strings to flatwounds the neck has remained straight & action is perfect. The necks on the AS Precisions are amazing & the CS pickups for me are Fenders best, I love mine & hope to own it for many years to come.

I guess Rics are one of those instruments that aren't the easiest to really be comfortable with off the bat. I don't know if it would be a love/hate thing, though. There's a lot of cool things about it, yet there are some things that are kind of a pain in the arse, like the horseshoe pickup system, if you're not use to it and play a certain way. If you play with your fingers anchoring on that area around the pick up, that would get in the way and you have to adapt to that. I suppose you can remove that, but I understood that thing is important to it's sound.
