No, I never have. I just know the D'Addario are considered Medium strings. The D'Addario ETB92 series Nylons do have a fine deep, mellow tone as is.

You like them the best out of the nylons, or have you really tried other brands of that style?

I tried the La Bella Nylons, and they were fin also. One reason I like D'Addario strings, I liked the Chrome Flats of theirs I previously used. Another reason I swear by D'Addario strings, their customer service was above, and beyond my expectations.

That's the thing, if you get good customer service, you generally want to stick with that company, because then you know what you are dealing with. That's why I like AMS so much for buying gear. It sucks that they quit carrying a lot of stuff that I use, like Rotosound strings. If I want those, I have to order them elsewhere online. They do have D'Addario flats, but I don't think they have any nylons of any brand. I'll have to check again to be sure.

I use GC.com for D'Addario short, and medium Nylons. I can get my long Nylons locally at SA.

I wonder if Sam Ash would order the short scale strings for you, or would that be a pain in the arse? I suppose you probably wouldn't even go through that many to even justify messing with that.

They would, and may take almost as long to go there and order them.

I suppose that would matter if you absolutely didn't want to deal with Guitar Center, too.

I try to do as little as possible with GC, but they do have the Nylons in stock, where SA would have to order them from D'addario, or another distributor that has the ETB92 Nylons in stock. At this time I'm using ETB92M, and ETB92S Nylons. (medium & short scales).

I think you can actually buy them directly from D'Addario, since they have their own store, but they cost a bit more to do so. I suppose if you were going to order them online like that, you could just as well order them anywhere that carries them, unless their store is the only one that has them in stock, and you need them sooner than later.

I've thought about having to do that with the Rotosound strings, when I thought about getting their flats, since they actually had them in stock, but with it would have cost me $40 total with $5 shipping, and $35 for the strings. I've seen those online a lot cheaper, but they're often weren't in stock, and they were direct from Rotosound. I'm seriously thinking about sticking with the rounds, so it's kind of a moot point, and the rounds are significantly cheaper, including the Rotosound kind.

SA has a sale price for the D'Addario ETB92 Nylons. About $28.99, but that's for long scales. I may check in with them on the prices of ETB92M, and ETB92S Nylons.

That's not too bad for a price on that type of strings. Unless you're buying rounds, it seems like you're going to pay more for those type of bass strings. At least, you don't have to change them as often, I suppose.

Nylons, and Flats do seem to have a longevity for playability. I somewhat equals out the price paid out on the purchase.

Yeah, you can wind up leaving them on for years. The flats that I have on the Jazz bass are at least 2 years old now, if not close to it. Then again, that's not my main bass, and it needs to get fixed, so I'm not worried about changing the strings on it, yet. I still haven't decided if I want to switch over to rounds yet. I'm kind of leaning towards that, at least with the Precision Bass. I like the way it sounds without them, but I'll decide in the next couple of months when I'll eventually want to change strings. I'm pretty sure I'm keeping flats on the violin bass, since I think you need them for that type of sound, to get that hollow body thud.

Hollow bodies do seem to play well with Flats, or Nylons.
