I found a great deal on another Special Edition Deluxe PJ Precision. (Sea Foam Pearl)

I almost fell over earlier this morning, when I played the Spl. along with Led Zeppelin's since I've Been Loving You. What a great, clear bottom this bass has. Play your PJ to it, I think you'll like the sound.

That's pretty cool. 8) It's the Precision PJ Bass Club.

Yep! Capital idea!
I wasn't intending to buy anything when I went into the GC. Since I returned my other Sea Foam Pearl a few months ago, I had it in my mind to replace it with one that wasn't screwed around with, if at all possible. A long story on the reduced price I received on it, but it was around $180. off the regular store price. The noiseless Jazz pup on it is pretty good too. A nice Jazz neck on it is to my liking also.

It's a good deal that you got $180 knocked off the price. You also answered a question I was going to ask you whether it had a Jazz neck on it or not. I've noticed that Fender usually puts a Jazz neck on the P and J combo basses, at least from what I've seen. I don't know if they have ever done that with the Squiers.

The price break really opened up the deal for it.
Have you measured the nut on you PJ? Or does it feel like a Precision neck? I'm liking this PJ having what seems to be a flat, slim neck like the USA GL Jazz has.

Yes, the older P Bass Special line of Squiers had that combo. The newer PJ Affinity and Vintage Modified PJ have a standard P neck, not the J.

According to the specs, the nut on the Precision is 1.625" and the Jazz is 1.5" in length. I can tell the difference, because I have both, but I really like the neck on the Precision. It works quite well for me, more so than the Schecter did. That had a wider neck and the frets seemed to be spaced farther apart, which seems strange, but perhaps that was an illusion, because of the radius of the fretboard. It seemed like I had to stretch more on it, or I wasn't as fast. It had something like a 14" or 16" radius, and the Squier has 9.5" radius. Oddly enough, the Precision has a glossy neck and the Jazz has a satin neck, or it doesn't have that shiny material on it. I thought that was interesting how the necks were different on both of them, besides the size. The glossy neck doesn't bother me, though. I know that can be problematic for some people to where it might be sticky, but I haven't had that issue.

You Schecter was probably a 1.77" nut, and a 16" Radius board.

I think you're right, since it did seem wider that the Precision. The hollow-body violin has the smallest neck and radius. It took me some time to get used to that after playing the Schecter. I have no idea what the specs are on it, other than it's a short scale. Maybe Rondo Music has them listed on their site.

I remember seeing some specs on some Schecter basses, and that at least, at the time I saw them, seemed to be the avg. size on the nut, and radius.

Yeah, they typically do have most specs listed on their site. with the exception of the instrument weight, which became a pain in the arse when I had to sell the Ultra VI and have info for a shipping label to ship it. I couldn't find the info on that one, but at least I had in on the Diamond J. The cool thing that worked out for me, is the two boxes that came with the Squier work for the Schecter Diamond J. I mean it fits in there, so I can just use that to ship and not have to put together a Reverb.com box and buy a bunch of bubble wrap, which I did with the Ultra VI. Actually, we had the bubble wrap from before, but we had to order shipping boxes, since I never kept any of the original boxes. All I have to do is tape up the ends of them and tell the person that I'm just using a Squier box I had and it's not a Squier in it. That's what they call upcycling, I suppose. Unfortunately, no one has bought the Diamond J yet, just a few people watching it on Reverb.com. There was somebody that inquired about it, locally on Craigslist, but they never responded back after we answered them. That, unfortunately, is quite typical for that friggin' site, which is also where we try to find musicians to play with. That would have been even better than Reverb, because I wouldn't have to screw with shipping it and the costs involved with that, plus it would have saved on any fees from Reverb, too.

Holy cow! Schecter has a 16" radius? That must feel like its round! I've always thought the vintage 12" radius on Fenders was pretty nice, I'll have to try a Schecter and see what I think about the 16" radius.

A 16" flat radius on a board, must be close to an aircraft carrier's deck.
