More like 43-44 years ago.

I was born 44 years ago. Technically, 44 1/2. Jeez, I'm going to be 45 soon.

To be honest about the Acoustic 360/361, they were a waste if you didn't play them loud! They sounded ok at lower volumes, but I always thought they were at their peak proficiency in stadium, or arena atmospheres.

They had an 18" speaker in them, didn't they? If so, that would explain that, I think. That's the issue I had with my 18" cab until I got the 2x10" cab.

Yep, you hit it on the head with the 18" speaker. They sounded great really cranked up. Some 15" have the same issue. If it's not the 15, it's the cab it's in. One of the reasons I like the 12", they have a good overall punch, and sound at about any volume level.

Yeah, I'll bet a 4x12" cab would really kick it for bass.

Marshall bass cabs were mainly 4X12 in the 60's. JBL, EV, etc.

There's one now called Hi-Tone https://hi-tone-amps.com/ These are made by the cooperation of the late Dave Reeves family. He was the guy that designed the original Hi-Watt. They have a 4x12" bass cab that looks pretty killer.

My Dad had a Hi-Watt 100w head and matching cab, that he bought new around 1972 along with his Fender Telecaster. I used his amp for a gig once (under strict instructions) because, I was using my 1964 Hofner Violin bass with it. :)
A couple of years ago he sold the Hi-Watt as he wanted something lighter, I always remember that amp & guitar happy days :D .

That's pretty cool. 8) I wouldn't mind blasting one off.

Of course, The Who had a wall of them back in the day.

When Grand Funk Railroad was on their first tour, Hiwatt was the amp they used.

Speaking of Sound City, there's a site about them that has some info about them. http://www.soundcitysite.com/

I take it that's before the West amplifiers then?
