So we're all P-bass fans... what kind of music do ya'll like to play with that nasty bass you have? I love FUNK. George Porter Jr, Rocco Prestia, Robert Mercurio from Galactic, etc... are all P-bass players I dig! I'm not really into the hard rock thing, but appreciate it (so don't hate!). I'm really into Soulive and Lettuce right now. I like the soulful, funky, Jazz (but I'm not drawn to the Jazz bass sound).

I like 70's funk...but my love is heavy music - NYHC, metal, etc. I do appreciate Jazz, a lot. I don't have a P bass anymore either, both are JBasses. Granted my '87 is a marriage of both J and P basses ( P body, J neck). Welcome to the forum!

Im on a really heavy Motown kick right now so Jamerson and Babbit are highest on the list. I really dig Galatic. If you're familiar enough with the tunes, the band I play in covers The Moil, such a killer head riff! Other favorites are ofcourse Brian Wilson/Carol Kaye and McCartney. A fella that's not a Fender P-Bass player but still has a sweet groove while playing both gutiar and bass is Charlie Hunter. His Duo album with Leon Parker has some of the sweetest grooves I've heard in awhile and is a constant on the way to and from work these days.

I play blues and rockabilly (American music).

My #1 is my '59 CS P (best playing bass I've ever played, mine or anyone else's). I also play a '57 AV P (fantastic bass), and just recently got a '51 CIJ reissue P that I'm having fun with, great bass too. In addition to the Ps, I've got two Ric basses, a Squier P-5, Squier Jazz fretless, a Rogue viola bass and a couple SX basses.

I play alot of Floyd, Sabbath, and 90s alternative. I also do alot of experimentation with various pedals, just noises and sounds.

The OP is talking about what music you play.

I play a lot of everything. I mainly have been playing Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Shadows Fall, or any rock/metal band. On the side I'll jam with some buddies and play some blues and jazz too. I just love picking up my precision and playing anything.

I'm a rock/metal type of guy. As long as it's melodic, it's cool. It's all in the hook!

Me too, to an extent. I like NYHC the most. Lots of metal, not so dark tho.
