please anyone help me clarify this.

A.american p bass with modified fender j pu
B.american p bass hot rodded 1999

-about p pickup, do the p pickup of both A&B be installed in the same dimension (all measuring) ? are they the same type of p pickup ? OR they have different in both pu type and different dimension.

-if i install fender j pickup into bassA by copying all dimension of j pu of bassB. What the sound will be ? will they have same charactor of sound.

-what is the small hole appear in the body of bassB (near neck pu). Or this make hot rodded unique from p bass.

thank you for all comments

Welcome to the Fender Forums, bbgugu!

First,

that is an orientation hole for the CNC machine to shape the body.

Do you have photos of the basses in question? or links to them? Are you looking to buy one or the other?

Yes, all American made Precisions with the famous Fender Split Pick-Ups are the same dimensionally. As far as actual construction of the pick-up, there are many variations over the years. There are also many after market Precision style split pick-ups by such makers as Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio. So there are a lot of excellent choices available.

There is also the Fender Original Vintage P-Bass Pickup, Fender part number 0992046000 which is the best split coil P-Bass pickup I ever used. The ones I've installed are stellar. Only P-Bass pickup I'll buy as long as I can get them.

Dear Dave and linlin

I wrote to fender and they gave me the document as show below link.
It appear the bridge pickup is different part number to what Dave has mentioned. Any comment please.

By the way, may I ask more about fender rumble amp.

From below link, what is the different of these 2 rumble. I try to search the history of its series but can't be found.
(Forgive me if link is mis rule, but i only use it to show photo -- I don't mean any commercial issue in this board)
In my country I saw only black one, while I really like to buy the silver one.
Can you please

Very nice Hot Rod, bbgugu!
As far as Fender Rumble bass amp go, I'll try to answer any question you have. Check out this link to the TalkBass Fender Rumble Club. I have written a series of 'Rumble Talks' that will answer a lot of your questions.
