I've never had a Mint Julep, but I've certainly had my share of bourbon, especially Jim Beam in my early 20's. :P

Hi boys! Long time no "see"!

From the few threads that I've looked at, it looks like people are mostly behaving themselves -- not quite boring, but maybe just a wee little smidgeon dull. However, I STRONGLY disapprove of sniping at others, so that is not the way to create excitement.

Regrettably my work has been dominating my life, so I have been very boring. And not playing my babies.
Anywho, thought I'd stop by to see what's up.

Take care now, and be nice! :D
(And be sure to let me know if you're going to get up to mischief! LOL)

P.S. I saw Kenny Wayne Shepherd recently, with Tony Franklin on bass. It was a delight to listen to, and also an education. I think I have a hero! :D

Hey, long time no hear, other than two words you say over a month ago on Glenn's forum. :P I don't think there's been too much mischief around lately, though. A little more quiet these days, I suppose. I've been a little busy, here and there, just glad summer's over. I've done some recording and a couple of rehearsals, but no gigs yet. No new toys either, except for an MXR M81 Bass Preamp, which I'm not sure I had the last time we ever talked. That thing is pretty amazing for recording.

Tony Franklin is a pretty cool bassist. He use to play in the Firm with Jimmy Page back in the mid 80's. I like his signature fretless bass that Fender makes (or made, if they no longer do.) Never played on one, though.

I've never heard of that one. I'll have to see if they carry it in the liquor store where I shop.

I wish I had any one of those instruments, I primarily a guitar player, but I really get a kick playing the bass. As I have mentioned before 10 years ago I lost all my gear to theft, including A fine Guild and a no name hollowbody fretless i loved. As far as the decline in Forums, its sad. I don't do any of the social media thing. But this forum has helped me with lots of issues and been a bit of fun as well. Hope the hard cores stick around.

Eroot64:

I started on the Ibanez 5-string (35-inch scale), which was kind of a beast for me. It was suggested that I switch to a 4-string. So the mim Deluxe came home. Then Paducah Luke had a pretty blue P bass for sale. That found it's way to my home. Finally, the Blacktop showed up on my doorstep. I played the Deluxe pretty regularly for a couple of years, and tried the Ibanez again. It was definitely easier, but the stretch up by the headstock is still a challenge -- I need to get used the the idea of being able to only stretch 3 frets & moving as needed. On the Fenders, my hands can stretch 4 frets even by the headstock.

Sad to hear some lowlife slime stole your gear.

I understand how it can be hard to keep a forum interesting, especially as new people come and ask questions that have been asked before. Can't blame them, since they want to learn. Maybe Fender needs to make "sticky" topics of threads for the most commonly asked questions, or topics that are discussed. That way anyone new can immediately see threads that address their questions. And, if a topic is popular ("strings"), having a single thread also provides a single place for all opinions & questions.

Of course, having discussions beyond strictly instruments, can help invigorate a forum. However, some people take exception to fun & digressions. :(

Yeah, I guess it's not advisable to mention clowns. :P Somehow, I missed that originally, even though I was around.
