Hey there, this is my first post. I recently added this new Steve Harris bass to my family. I had a Mexican made Precision before and was expecting this to arrive and be very similar but it is not at all. I'm debating whether or not to swap out for a real BadAss bridge.

Congratulations! Great first post and excellent acquisition. I would leave the stock Fender Heavy bridge as I think it is a far superior design to the now defunct BadAss.

Welcome!

Now that is a nice looking bass and I am sure you will get great use from it.

Linnin is correct, imo, leave the bridge, it is a good one.

Nice bass. That bridge looks like what's on my Cabronita, or at least pretty damn close. One of the things I like about it is the wide slots, which gives you some minimal capability to string-space -- if you don't play too hard, that is. I wouldn't change it. Even if there were some minor improvement with a giant hunk of whatever metal you replaced it with, you'd never hear the difference in the real world. Any minor change that came about might even be a step backwards, i.e. might have a negative effect on the instrument's tone, or resonant/dead points, or whatever. (I mean relative to what a PB is supposed to sound like.)

Thanks guys! Appreciate the opinions! The thing is - his actual bass doesn't have this type of bridge.

But that's OK, because you're not Steve Harris and never will be, so it doesn't matter.

Great point. I am going to switch the bridge out and hang it on the wall.

Heh. Nobody is, 'cause nobody else can run that fast during a song *and* keep playing. I tried it once, bumped into a lead singer, and almost fell into the drum kit.
