Hi,
I have a Fender American Deluxe Jazz V 2011. Body in ash and maple neck.
This bass is wonderful, but ... It weighs 5kg (11:03 lbs).
And my backs already begin to complain
Is this is a normal weight in this series?
Cheers
All the best
Hélder Luís

10 pounds is pretty average. I wouldn't complain about 11. My Precision is 12. Gets a little heavy by the end of the night.

My 83 P is about close to 10 but none of my others are that heavy- they're all around 9 lbs and some a little under. I have one that's about 8- I usually pass on the heavy basses.

Weight is dependent on the wood used to build your bass.
If is very difficult to say what the average weight should be, but some will be on the heavy side for sure.

Wow linnin, that is a heavy P...are you hiding your gold in it?

I just sold a jazz (FCS64JRI) that, according to my local PostNet, went just under 11 pounds with all it's bling. Don't know that I have ever had a P near 10, but mine are all passive, too.

To respond to the question, I think your jazz is about max, but I believe it. Most of my newer jazz basses, which are all reissues of older models, probably come in between 10-11 pounds. Not a lightweight in the group.

Actually it's cast brass in the form of an original Leo Quan Badass Bridge. That adds an easy pound. 8)
