This new year I'm going to be getting a Classic 50's P, or maybe a 51' RI as I've found that I like maple boards with the vintage radius for when I play more walking basslines. As far as the hard rock/ Punk songs my band does my rosewood board P's with the modern radius get the tap there. it's all just personal preference really, neither is necessarily better then the other.

I prefer rosewood on all my basses. There's more fundamental in the note, and it's classier-looking too 8)

My first p bass had a maple neck I never notice the brightness of the neck, but I got my jazz I notice, that was a few years ago. Now I own a 60th P bass it has rosewood or the other dark wood, it seem to have a softer sound. So in short, it doesn't matter as long it a p Bass LOL
