If I said, "I have a 1977 Corvette, what is it's fair market value?" And if I didn't post any photos or any other information about condition, mileage, repairs, etc....nobody would dare offer a reliable answer. Same principle here.

Originality matters more than anything else. If the solder joints have been messed with, deduction. Refinished? Bigger deduction (50 to 60%.) Any non-original bling, deduction. Normal wear and tear is not as big a deduction as swapping a bridge or pickup. In fact I like to see normal wear on any instrument older than 20 years because that means it was played and one in near mint condition is more suspicious as I suspect it didn't play or sound good so the owner made it a closet queen while playing others that played or sounded better. A near mint CBS era bass is very suspect to me. So, normal wear is good while mods are not to this one player here.

Could be worth $200 or it could be worth $2000.

Without knowing more and seeing photos nobody with can give you an accurate answer. Heck, I don't even know if it is actually a real Fender!

As previously pointed out some markets bring more than others. A 77 Fender in Macon, Georgia or Detroit, Michigan will bring slightly less than in LA or NYC, and much less than an otherwise equally graded one in London or Paris or Rome or Munich or Tokyo or Rio or Melbourne or Sydney or even Nassau because they are far more scarce and demand is higher.

If you want a definitive answer about your specific instrument then pay for an appraisal, which is usually worth it as a sales tool. Asking for opinions in a forum is worth about what it costs you, which is of course NOTHING. This particular service however is worth more than many others because their opinion is so widely respected: https://guitars.com/appraisals

I'm not trying to be mean or a Mr. Smarty Pants, but really there are too many variables to give you a definite answer. It could be worth a little or it could be worth $2000 or more. Instruments of the CBS era have been escalating some in value over the past three years as pre-CBS ones have become out of reach for the average player. There are so many fakes and parts instruments out there I'm not even going to guess at what you actually have based on merely a serial number. A serial tells me only that you have a serial and like a car's VIN an instrument serial only tells you when and where the thing started out and nothing about what it is now.
