I have been experiencing a strange string buzz from the E tuning post. It only occurs on the up stroke and with any medium or stronger plucking.
Any thoughts as to why?
Thanks

How long has this been happening, and did you just change strings?

Nut slot too wide maybe? Put a tiny square of double-thickness paper between the string and the nut slot, and see if the problem goes away.

Good news.

So, now loosen the string again, pull the paper out, and with the string still loose, try to move it side to side in the nut slot. If you can feel it move, the slot's probably too wide for the gauge string you're using.

You might be able to "ghetto" a fix by having 1 more turn than usual wrapped around the post, so the string angle at the nut is more severe. Can't do that with the existing string, obviously, but try it next time you change strings. I like to have 2 turns around each post. Make sure, as you tighten, the coil builds downward (toward the headstock), not upward (away from it). The idea is to get a good, sharp break over the nut.
