Getting my new P-Bass today.

American Standard, Olympic White, with white maple fretboard + putting a white pearl pick guard.

One tone knob, one volume knob; passive - boring as hell

I can't wait! :-)

..............I also just scored VIP tickets to the Foo Fighters; what a day of rock n roll!

Nice. Got the same thing here. Might want to wait on the pearl PG because the factory tort looks incredible, especially under the lights. Vivid, deep colors. Fender does a real nice tort.

Got the same bass in the same color & I love it, when I made the decision that all I needed was just 1 bass with 1 pickup & 1 volume & tone, & read and watched videos on the American Standard Precision I knew that I had found the right bass.

I am a minority in the bass world, though I can't stand tort pick guards!

Once the swap's done, let me know if you want to sell the tort. Been toying w/ the idea of throwing one onto my Mex. Precision. Worst that can happen is I won't like it, and I'll just resell it.

I was never a big fan of "Tort" but I do think it goes well with the Olympic white body.

Congrats on your new bass. I know your gonna love it.
In Feb of 2013 I purchased a 2012 Am Stnd P-bass 5. I've used it as my main bass since with no regrets.
Like you, I wanted to get back to the basics....1 volume knob.....1 tone knob....and passive.
The bass is easy to play. Great feel to it and has that fantastic p-bass thump.
I considered the Olympic White, but instead I went with the Candy Cola Red w/maple fingerboard (discontinued after 2012). The Olympic White Am Stnd p-bass 5's at that time only came with the rosewood fingerboard and I like maple. That was the deciding factor for me.
I swapped the white pg for a white pearl. I think it looks great.
Again....congrats on your new bass and I look forward to seeing the pics.

The Candy Cola colour looked better than the Mystic Red, if they still had the CC colour I think I would have gone for that with the maple neck.

Olympic White on a Precision is traditional. Good choice.
