Oh yeah, I'm not sure if Fender does this, or another brand, but they recently had the neck go from a C shape to a D shape down the neck, or was it vice-versa? I saw that in some specs, somewhere. That's what you mean by that?

I'm not sure on how they go with the neck shapes changing.

I do like the neck on my Precision, that's for sure. I really can latch on to it and play away. The Jazz is pretty good, too. It's just a different feel. I also have different types of strings between the two basses, so that's going to factor in, as well.

The neck on the USA GL is a thicker neck to play on than the PJ. Yet , I like the feel of the GL. The PJ is a thinner Jazz neck. Both Jazz necks do have a 1.50" width nut. That works better for me than 1.65" width nut, as a Precision uses. After many years, I've learned for my playing style, and comfort, it's the width of the nut / board, not the girth of the neck that I prefer. The Jazz.

That's interesting the Precision neck is actually thinner than the Jazz one is. Especially , since they are both suppose to be 70's style necks, or at least the Precision looks like one.

I still wonder if the Precision is using the MIM Geddy Lee neck? Have you seen any in the shops?

My PJ Precision is a 70's Jazz neck, and it very well could be a MIM GL Jazz neck. It feels really good. It's one of those that doesn't get in the way. The frets are dressed fine on it. The MIM Fenders are being manufactured very well I think. At least the ones I've come across.

That's good. The neck on my Squier is really nice, too. Hopefully, I won't have to take the file to the fret ends. I guess I will see when winter rolls around and how dry it gets.

I'm wondering if I should put some of that butcher block stuff on the neck beforehand as a preventive (it's a wood moisturizer, as well) from it drying out? I just have to let it sit overnight and buff it out the next day. I've already put it on the Jazz and the violin bass, because I had to take care of the fret ends on those and I've hadn't had to mess with them again.

It's really a pain in the arse to have to do that, because I have to tape it up and try to be careful with the wood around the frets. Mainly taping it up is the thing that's time consuming thing to do, since I don't take the strings off when I did that.

My humidity is pretty consistent, so I never had a dry Rosewood issue. That's a good reason to go Maple.

Yeah, I didn't either when I lived down there. I did have a jack corrode from me sweating over it, though. That's one thing that I've noticed since I've gotten in better shape and lost weight, I don't sweat as much, and cool off faster. It makes summers a little more bearable. :P

Yeah, Florida can be an armpit this time of year, but nice in the winter time, when this place turns into the tundra. :P

I hangout in the house, where I can breathe, when I can anyway.

Yeah, but I've heard there's another one that might come up our neck of the woods, maybe you and me both. I haven't looked into it, my girlfriend mentioned something about it, and we decided to pick up some extra supplies ahead of time, just in case. Hopefully, it will go out to the Atlantic and pass us all by.
