Cool bass! 8) Where did you get that one?

At the Devil's Disciples, GC. I always said, if I found another Sea Foam Pearl in good shape, I'd attempt to acquire another one. The price was right, so I snagged it.

That's cool. I had almost forgotten you ever had one before this. You had some sort of issue with it before?

Yep! before I had it, someone had changed out the noiseless Jazz pup, for a standard Jazz pup. That one went back. This one is intact, now that I know on these what to look for on them. The back of the neck on this feels flat, like a USA GL Jazz neck does.

It looks like the Geddy Lee neck, or at least the MIM version, with the black inlays. I wonder if they are using that neck on this bass? You know, that could be a distinct possibility. It certainly wouldn't be difficult to do, because I'm sure all of those parts are mass produced to the same specs, anyway.

To me, it feels like the USA GL neck, without the smoothing out on the crown, and it has the adjustment rod at the head. I'll compare it with the USA GL Jazz I have coming in on maybe Thursday. I'm selling the Am. Std. Jazz Monday.

What made you decide that. You miss the Geddy Lee a lot?

Actually, yes. I said a couple of months ago, if I found a USA GL Jazz I liked, I'd try to snag it.

That's true. I do remember you mentioning that, but I think there wasn't anything you wanted at the time around, was there?

I didn't like the string alignment on the USA GL's at that time. The E, and A strings were pretty far off of the poles. This is one of the better ones I've seen. Possibly even better than the last USA GL I had before this one. I know it's trivial, but I was the same way about the 4003 Ric's as well, for their G strings almost off of the edges of their boards.

Well, you have certain standards, nothing wrong with that, especially when you are paying that much money for something. If I could afford that stuff, I think I'd be more stringent, too. I know with the Squiers, they're not going to be exactly the same as those, but I already know that going into it, and I'm fine with it. To tell you the truth, if I had the cash, I'd be looking at those American Vintage, or Custom Shop jobs they make. That, or try to score an original bass from back in the day, if it's worthwhile to do so.

I know what you're saying about the Vintage, and Custom Shop basses. But I feel like, the money I'm spending on the USA GL, is more than I really need, but I do like this GL more than any other Fender bass, higher, or lower priced. I just like it. The PJ is getting to be up there as well.

That would be something if there was a way to compare the neck on your P Bass with the MIM Geddy Lee Jazz, and see if they are the same necks. I have a feeling they might be. When you get the USA model, you should see if there is much of a difference, too. Very curious about that.

I'm going to compare the necks on the PJ, and the GL.

That would be cool to see what the differences are, if any, or similarities. 8)
