That's a beauty Mr Nylon! I like the maple board too. Two of my 3 current basses have maple boards.

Nice basses Gunnaren! Like the finish on the second one.

Thanks, it's a buy back I did. It's the smoothest playing P Bass I've had. Gunnaren really got a nice pair of P Basses also. I like seeing other players gear.

Looking at this thread is giving me some P Bass GAS! :P Maybe someday I'll be able to get another P Bass in the arsenal. It's a good instrument to have on hand, anyhow.

If, and when you do get another P Bass, you have the amps to do the job. Image

This is my first post here, and this is my recently acquired 1974 Fender Precision Bass:

Image

I bought the bass locally from someone who listed for sale on Facebook at a very fair price. The neck stamp, tone pot, and pickup all date to within the same eight-week period in 1974. It's been re-fretted and has a new nut, volume pot, and strap buttons, but the rest is original including the case. It has a B neck and is fairly lightweight at 8.5 lbs. The only significant damage is an area around the 16th fret where the fingerboard seems to have taken a hit resulting in some of the rosewood and a position dot being pushed into the truss rod channel. Luckily, it does not affect playability or the function of the truss rod, so I'll probably leave it alone.

I recently added a new chrome bridge cover since there were already marks from the original one...and it just looks cool. I installed a set of La Bella 760FL flatwounds and I've enjoyed playing it on my last few electric bass gigs. Here are some additional pictures:

The last of the 70's tort guards with E-string side thumb rest and typical broken tip by the output jack. You can also see where the fingerboard was damaged:

Typical 70's three-color burst:

I love the "TV" logo. I've since replaced the pitted tuners with a set from the same era that is in better condition
Image

Around this time they added the extra route for the wiring. I replaced the split shaft volume pot with the correct one:

The pickup dates to 1974:

The original tone pot also dates to 1974:

The neck stamp code confirms the date and also indicates the model and type of fingerboard:

Here it is on the gig with my '62 reissue Jazz Bass and Markbass rig:

Thank you. Olympic White is my favorite of the older Fender colors. I just like that White Pearloid PG on the Olympic White Precision.
