Today was one of those rare times in family life, were you have a day to yourself. My wife & daughter went out with her sister, and my son was lost somewhere in the playstation universe.
So I sat down with my new US standard precision & rumble 200 combo, & got to know them both and what sounds & capabilities they both had. I had mentioned that I wanted to go down the 1 pickup, volume & tone route, and it was the right decision to make I wish I'd made it years ago. So many variations from the 1 pickup, volume & tone and as a marker for myself, I took the volume and tone pots off & put them back on where when they were off the set screws are pointing to the floor. This gave me a slight idea on where I was getting a nice sound and even though I'm a pick player, the bass sounded excellent playing fingerstyle, slap (I don't do it well) and even my attempt at two hand tapping. The bass is put together really well and the custom shop pickups, are the icing on the cake for me as far as I'm concerned. Bar for straplocks (which will be the Fender ones), this bass will stay stock, and apart from strings there is nothing I would change on this bass. I would like to see how & if Fender improve on this precision bass.
The Rumble V3 is an amazing amp which is what, you'd expect from the company that invented the bass amp. Again the various sounds you can get from this combo, you forget how reasonable is costs to buy. I'm still tweaking the amp for a bassier clear sound, I'll know it when I hear it. I would be very happy to own this amp for many years to come, & I'm still impressed with how light this 200 watt combo is and the vintage push switch is still my favorite addition to this amp. In all a great day spent getting used to my new bass setup, any doubts I may have had are gone if this was my last bass & amp I bought I'd have no regrets.
Anyhow the family came back we all sat down for tea, and I switched my amp off though I'll plug my bass into headphone amp later. I've had a great day and it's back to work tomorrow for another 6 days.

Sounds good. It's always great thing when the stars are aligned and your gear doesn't sound like total arse, instead of wanting to smash it to bits. 8)

Yes it was nice and your right about it sounding like total arse. Like when you've bought a bass that sounded good in the shop, you get home and it sounds nothing like it did in the shop :x .
