Now mind you. This bass has had a refin (a very nice one), refret (with medium jumbos, meh), replacement guard, and a non-original case. Strung up with an old set of flats. All I can say is WOW. Talk about smooth. Even acoustically the bass sang, and it was just an absolute joy to play. I found it very bizarre that I haven't been able to bond with the Soft-V on my Custom Shop 55, but the much more full U shaped neck on this 52 seemed to fit me like a glove. Necks are weird is all I can gather from that. It was literally effortless to play. Which made the pricetag that much harder to look at. Definitely out of my pricepoint, but it was a great experience none-the-less.

That's great that you were able to play a darn near original, original for no better words. I don't want to know the price on it either. Bit very cool. Image

That would be nice as not only is it an early example but there, could be a chance that it passed through Leo's hands very cool 8) .

Oh Oh, I see a 52P in KOP future. Old GAS is better than that new ethanol stuff.

I really, really wish I could swing it, but I could get two Custom Shop recreations for the price and not have to sweat about gigging them. I'm just not there financially yet. Maybe someday. I will say that if I did buy it I would have a hard time not gigging it. It really was THAT nice. The neck was unlike anything I've ever played. Really amazing. Super light. Very comfortable. It just felt really, really welcoming. Kind of like you're playing it and wondering... "Why the hell don't they make them like this anymore?!"

I played a real 1953 Precision at a Jam last year. I felt the same way but that bass was not for sale.
