I Have a Fender American Precision Deluxe 4 strings HUMBUCKER version...
Anyone has one? Or experiences?
I'd like to replace the pickups and the preamp of this bass
Which brands/model are available for this version of PBass in the market nowadays?
And of course a good match for my case...

It's a 2001/2002 model.
I'd like to change everything because my mid and treble pre are damaged, already tried eveything to correct it, but without success.
So I decided to change the hole preamp. And maybe the pickups too if necessary.
But I dont know which preamp will fit correctly in these Fender Am Pb

Have you tried finding the parts on the web or ebay or stratosphere etc etc? It just sounds like a tuff deal to go all new stuff and take the chance it won't sound right or the same when you are done. May be cheaper to find the same parts? Like you said size has a lot to do with it. I know shops that can do that kind of thing/ they could get it done but they will want mucho denaro to do it I guarentee!!!

Yes I had tried.
But without success.
So I'm trying to find a preamp model that fits in this bass without having to make changes...

Rip out all that stupid pre-amp BS, and just go passive. That's the quickest; easiest, and cheapest way to go.

I don't see why you'd want to change the pickups just because the preamp is wacky.

Going passive as Linnen suggested is one route. This requires all new 250k pots, wire, tone cap and possibly some new knobs. That would leave you with a vol/vol/tone setup so you'd have an extra hole left on the 4 control pickguard which you could use for a 3-way switch enabling you to solo either pickup without the load from the other interfering with it. That would be a fairly desirable passive solution.

There is no shortage of aftermarket preamps. However the original preamp PC board is Fender part number 0054137000 and I'd probably try ordering that from a Fender parts dealer or service center before gutting it for an aftermarket preamp or converting it to passive. This Fender preamp was used for quite a while on several Fender actives including the updated one in 2004 and is priced at just under $45 in Darren Riley's online Fender parts listings, however it is out of stock there. Not sure if he can order one for you or not. Other parts dealers or service centers may have one or can get one too.

If going the aftermarket route I would have to give the Aguilar OBP-3 serious consideration since it is adaptable to a 4 control setup, has a passive/active push pull pot and gives you the option of upping to 18 volts for extra headroom. Ballpark delivered would be about $230 here for the 4 knob active/passive setup. You would have to order through an Aguilar preamp dealer and there is a wait time of about a week normally to have it custom configured, however I think of all the aftermarket on-board bass preamps that is probably one of the very best solutions. If going aftermarket I absolutely would insist upon a passive/active option.
