I'd like to buy a 5 strings American Standard P-bass. As far I can see a lot of store have little or no stocks for this instrument. And in some store the P5 is not available for order anymore.
Does the P 5 string will be replaced/renewed by the end of the year or in 2015?
This is the thought that comes to my mind when I periodically do a search for a P5.
Does anybody have any info?

It shows available in the bass area of the site.
Fender unit number 0193650700
Only color listed on Fender.com is the 3 Color Sunburst, so if you order one now it likely can only be ordered in Sunburst but some dealers still have Olympic White ones also apparently.

At present Sunburst is IN STOCK at Amazon, Sears and Austin Bazaar. Sweetwater has ONE Olympic White in stock with Sunburst ones on the way. I only did a quick search and there were other dealers listing them as in stock at this time.

I have no issues ordering Fender gear from Amazon or Sweetwater and have. Never bought a Fender at Sears or Austin Bazaar but I have bought underwear, tools and appliances at Sears and I've bought pedals, ukuleles and other accessories at Austin Bazaar.

Sweetwater does a full setup before shipping and includes a free full 2 year Sweetwater warranty that Guitar Center charges nearly an extra $70 to get plus throws in a bag of free candy. No brainer...Sweetwater all the way. For some reason the Sears.Com price is actually HIGHER than RETAIL so that is a no-go. At Sweetwater I deal with BART. He's a really helpful guy and super knowledgeable about recording. He plays guitar and bass, owning a Squier Classic Vibe 60's Jazz bass.

If you want to deal locally any Fender dealer should be able to order this, unless you are outside the USA or Canada in which case what instruments are actually available is up to the distributor there. I'm pretty sure any North American Fender dealer can order one. It is an active model.

Wow......didn't know Fender was discontinuing the Am Stnd P5. I hate to hear that.
I've dealt with Sweetwater many times and I can also recommend them. Great to work with. However, I purchased my 2012 Am Stnd P5 from Sam Ash.
In Feb of 2013 I was looking for the Candy Cola w/Maple fingerboard. That combo was discontinued after 2012 and they were hard to find. Sweetwater didn't have one and at that time you could no longer order that combo.
The first one I found was at Austin Bazaar. It was a 2011 model. It had some neck issues that I didn't want to deal with, so I returned it......on my dime. They were OK to deal with.
Sam Ash was very easy to work with and the bass I received from them has been a very good one. Since receiving it I've used it on just about every one of our gigs.
I usually change my strings and check the set up myself, but about once a year I like to take it to a local tech for a check up if nothing else. New strings and a general overlook of the neck and set up. I've known the guy for several years and he's pretty good at it. Better than me. Last week I dropped off my P5 for it's annual check up and when I picked it up I was told the tech had a lot of fun thumpin' around on my bass. :)
Good luck in locating one. I'm sure you'll like it as well as I like mine.

Here's a link to a thread I posted when I purchased mine. (with pics.... )

I don't think the 5-string P-Bass being dropped from the American Standard line.

FYI.... they discontinued the old American Deluxe version with the bridge humbucker in 2007 after nearly 8 years of production. Methinks they gonna release a new ADP5 in 2015.

Thank you to all for your answers.
I did not specify that I searched in Europe, my fault.
Anyway now I feel more safe buying a P5.
My only doubt was a possible imminent refresh/change for this product.
Thank you

I forgot to mention that the tech said all the bass needed was some very minor tweaking. So once set up properly it seems to hold pretty well.

Hi again Giga, As I previously mentioned, international distributors pick and choose what they want to import. It is entirely possible that for whatever reasons the distributor in your territory has elected not to import that model which would explain your inability to get a dealer to order one for you. Additionally the USA dealers who sell them online can not ship outside the USA due their dealer contract with FMIC always strictly prohibits international shipments of FMIC products. So that fact makes the ones readily available here in the USA useless to you unless you go to the USA dealer in person and pick it up. The entire Fender line offered in the USA and Canada is never carried by any international distributor.

Likewise Fender Japan has many models that FMIC for whatever reasons opts not to import for North American distribution. So the fact there are different instruments available in different nations is a two way street and not all products labeled "Fender" are available in the USA. Additionally there are Squier models sold internationally that are not imported by FMIC for North American distribution too such as the Squier California Series.

To get a brand new model not available to dealers in your territory because the distributor there does not import it you may have to travel a bit and maybe even to the USA. Then you'd have to pay any duty fees upon returning home with it.

Another option to get a brand new one without traveling would be to buy one that is technically used or "pre-owned" in a territory where they are available. FMIC dealers can ship used Fender instruments internationally, just not new ones because shipping new Fender instruments outside their home country would violate their dealership agreement with Fender. They simply can not do it. HOWEVER, it is entirely possible you could find a third party, such as a vintage/used dealer in the USA who is not a Fender dealer that would be willing to act as an intermediary agent (for a fee) who would buy a brand new one for you and ship it to you as used/pre-owned with you paying all shipping and import duties there. In that arrangement there is no warranty whatsoever though since you are technically buying a used/pre-owned instrument, so it would be better to buy through a dealer in your home nation if at all possible to get the warranty.

You could contact the distributor for your territory directly to verify whether they do or do not import that model. It is also important to know that some nations have more than one distributor and the nation may be divided into sub-territories and the model offerings may be entirely different between the multiple international distributors. The list of current international distributors and their contact information is on the CONTACT page here: http://www.fender.com/contact/ If the distributor for your territory doesn't import it then it is possible a dealer in a neighboring territory does so you could check with them next if you are willing to travel to the neighboring territory where they are available.

No Fender dealer anywhere can ship new Fender instruments out of their home country. It just is not allowed. There are several private used/vintage dealers in Japan who specialize in selling Fender Japan instruments that otherwise are not available internationally as used instruments with no warranty but these agents are technically not Fender dealers. They buy from a dealer becoming the owner and then resell them.

Everyone else in the USA and Canada, do not panic. This model instrument is currently available to order for you, at least for this model year and any Fender dealer in the USA can order one for you if they do not have it in stock.

Good luck!
