Hey Steve- You turned an ugly duckling '63 Precision into a thing of beauty. I like the color.

That bass rocks and I wish I had one like it in my closet.

It seems like with your rare collection the 63-63 could be the one you indulge in a lot. Hey it's refinned- no worry- play the heck out of it and enjoy- My 74p is a Jazz A width. A P with a Jazz neck is a choice instrument to me. Mines refinned to surf green . Yours is the older cousin. :D

Your bass looks great man! It's like a dark Sonic Blue. How about Sonic Seafoam? I like the Jazz neck being on it too, especially that it's the same year as the body.
I had a 63 P in Sonic Blue and if it had a J neck on it I may have never sold it, but I've come to realize I want the J neck. I now own a P bass with a J neck and think it's the best of both worlds.
The neck on yours is very dark, as was my old 63 P. I always though the neck was ebony, but I guess it could have been a dark rosewood.
Great find, great score!

Exactly! Plus, I am still not 100% comfy with the body being original, although a reputable collector swears he saw both basses combined to make this one. So it is absolutely getting played and gigged. Out three times already. Just for giggles, I put a .022 cap in it. The jury is still out on that decision.

Thanks. I was pretty happy when I first bought it. The finish literally had (air) brush stokes on it, it was that bad, but I really bought it on the cheap. It looked bad and sounded, at best, okay. Now, after maybe a $500 investment, it is a very nice player bass. I prefer originals, but when I find a cool project that is under priced....I take a dive. I don't sell refins*, so it mine now, and will be played a lot.

*Had an experience where I sold a refin, as a refin, but the guy that bought it sold it as original. This was years ago, and if I would have known who bought it, I would have bought it back. Maybe he was just talking smack, but it made me sick. So I just don't sell refins anymore. But when I die, watch out for my wife, because the whole collection will go....lol.
