Anyone know for sure what tone cap value Fender puts in the Road Worn Precision?
Fender does not list the Road Worn P in their schematics/parts layout section on the site.

I have no idea, never opened one to look. If you really need to know you could email Consumer Relations for a Wiring Diagram & Parts List. Their email is: consumerrelations@fender.com

I bet it is a 0.05 uf current production mini-ceramic disc. That is the cap used in about every passive P-Bass except some of the USA Vintage Reissues like the 1962 RI P-Bass which got a 0.10 cap.

Yes but the since this is a Road Worn and modeled after a, I don't know, a '59?, the value may be different than "any P bass".

Dave since it is a sort of re-issue itself, I wonder if it would be similar. Then again I am not sure what late 50s P basses had in them. I did not know AVRI's had such a dark sounding cap in them. I really like the control that Road Worn cap is giving me on the tone knob and will probably duplicate it in the build I am doing right now.
I checked the service diagram for the "50's Precision bass" which I believe is Fender's Classic series. It lists a .1UF cap on the actual drawing but a .01 where is actually lists that part. I hear the Road Worn P and the classic 50's are virtually the same, except for relic treatment.

I guess I can take my Road Worn apart and see what's in there then huh? Just seemed easier to ask then to remove both covers and a pickguard.

I have a Road Worn Precision and I never thought it would be different from a .047 capacitor like most of my other Precision basses.

Some time when I feel industrious I'll take it apart and see.

It sure sounds like a vintage Precision.

It's an 047(5) either, or- with 500 k pots.

That's close enough for Rock 'n Roll and the Blues just don't care 'bout that trivial stuff!

Yeah - that's how my 74 was/is- and all my P basses- Jazz are usually 22 cap and 250 pots. BUT one can make them whatever they wish. I love my RW P bass. It sounds great. I put Dimarzios in it. Classic 50's are nice too. I have a blonde/creme/ trans one.

FYI: Precision basses traditionally used 250K pots. Gibsons used 500k pots.

If somebody changed the pots that I don't know what you'll find but Fender always put 250k pots in everything they made. I am assuming that they are still using 250 K pots in most Fender basses.

I had consider myself a Jazz-only guy but that RW P is becoming my #1 at gigs and especially sessions. Just got a chance to listen to the RW from a corporate session I had done recently and ..wow what a tone. Have not touched my go to franken-jazz since.
