The fun stuff never lasts, and what you're saying is very true. As the new prices rise they are forcing potential new buyers into the used market which of course reduces the new product sales. Sales go down, profit goes down, prices go up to compensate. Does the term "Snowball Effect" fit here. This doesn't happen over night, but it happens.
As I saw you mention in another post, If they were a little more liberal with the direct ordering plan the consumer would likely pay a premium to buy new and get the bass or guitar they really want. As you mentioned, it's all parts they are already making.
Later......Tom

James you hot rodder, you! I don't recall any New Bass Day announcement Once you get your hands on a real hot rod it's tough to go back to stock. Congratulations! Great Choice! {It's a good thing I'm left-handed or I'd be broker than broke}

Thanks Linin,..... I can't remember the thread that I mentioned purchasing the Vintage Hot Rod 70's Jazz bass,.... but I've mentioned it two times,....I think it was a conversation I had with Mr.Nylon,.... & you're right it's hard to go back,...everytime I pick up my new Vintage Hot Rod 70's Jazz Bass or My Select Jazz bass the feeling of utter satisfaction that I get from these instruments is unmeasurable, ....... these basses are worth every penny. & with regard to being broker than broke,... luckily I have a good relationship with Long & McQuade Music's financing department,.... I put down $1600.00 & Financed the rest over 12 months.. :) I have been eyeing the Vintage Hot Rod 70s Jazz Bass since it came out last August & Long & McQuade Vancouver got in the one that I would end up buying back in September,.. every couple of weeks I'd go to the store & jam on the bass for a few minutes.... so 6 months later I finally saved some cash for a down payment & pulled the trigger in March,..... I have one of the first 500 made,... the serial number on my bass is HR000556 I still think this is an odd serial number sequence & the serial number on these basses is on the neck plate & not the head .

Fender did a Hot-Rodded American P-Bass with PJ pickups in the late 1990s, but this model lacked off that slim Jazz neck profile. The FSR American Special PJ bass caught my eye:

For those who seek a USA P bass with PJ pickups and a Jazz neck, try finding a used Boner Precision Bass Plus on eBay.
