I am seeking any experienced advice for a new case for my MIM P and/ or J Bass.
Interested in a polyfoam, lightweight case for my weekly travels. I have been looking into the Kaces and the Gator polyfoam, zipper cases.
Are there any Fender users that have these?

Except for one original Fender hardwall case for my 1986 Power Jazz Bass Special, all the rest of my basses are safely carried in SKB TSA approved cases. They are a bit pricey, but they provide more security and safety than just about anything else out there.

I had a soft case at one time. I personally think soft cases and gig bags would not stand up to a heavy amp falling on them or a fall from a significant height. Gig bags are the worse of the two. I have a couple gig bags and they never leave the house. They just keep dust off the guitars that are in them. Hard shell cases that fit any guitar PROPERLY are always the best bet. Although the soft zipper cases may be okay for travel - as for me as a working musician who plays gigs - I only use hardshell cases. That's just me talking but I have seen cases fall, get stomped, get spilled on, handles break and they crash to the ground, etc etc- so I BASS my opinion on that. :D

I agree with stroker vance on this.
I keep all my basses in their cases. I like the SKB case that my Am Stnd p-bass came in, but I have purchased a couple of Gator GPE cases. One for my Squier and the other for my FCS. I'm very satisfied with those cases as well.

Agreed !! I've seen guitar/bass cases take beatings over the years & any Fender that I've bought that came with a gig bag ended up getting a hard shell case,.... better safe than sorry.. :)
