Does anyone know if this bridge:

will fit a vintage '66 P bass, scew hole-wise and bridge cover-wise?

Well the Classic Vibe 60's Precision comes with a bridge cover installed and it is a 5 screw mounting so I assume - yes.

For the bridge, Fender states that "some modification may be needed" but my thought on this is that it is pretty minor if at all. I'd give it a shot. As far as the bridge cover, yes they have a cover but it is specific to this bridge as the bridge is slightly larger in dimension than a standard vintage Fender bridge.

Here's a link for a bridge cover:

For the bridge, there are two versions you can use:

I like the one with the brass barrels, which is Fender Model #: 0074943000

And the one you already showed us, which is Fender Model #: 0074942000

These should be a nice addition to your vintage bass. Please be sure to keep us updated on how things work out for you, and of course photos are always appreciated.

Sincerely,
The General

I would recommend that you not alter an original 1966 Precision bass. Even if it is just a bridge, it will detract from the value of the bass and you risk damaging the instrument with the change. You also risk losing the original bridge which I hope you plan on keeping with the bass (I am assuming that you have the original bridge.)

I know its your bass and you can do what you want with it, but I hope you realize that an original finished '66 Precision is worth around $5K these days.

I wouldn't go swapping out parts on such a classic if it were mine.

Just sayin' my .02
