Okay my past 2 gigs my bass has been molested by members of the crowd (those of which I do not know personally) last show the usual random drunk that everyone gives the stink eye because hes clearly there to hit on taken woman and drink booze, during the set in the middle of my bass intro he decides to tap and slap my bass non stop so my drummer stood up and flung a stick at his head perfect shot then our manager eventually ended up tackling him and the guy got tossed, Yesterdays gig same thing guy touching my headstock and just keeps poking at it finally decides to Lick, that's right I said Lick my headstock although I never stop playing a song no matter what occurrence it was pretty hard to not play bassball with his head but I value you my FSR honeyburst P Bass I guess Fenders are pretty sexy

With bills to pay and expenses in your life, making hard decisions is a bit difficult - but ask yourself... is that venue really worth the problems?

In many states, regardless of the location, what was done to your equipment and you personally is a misdemeanor or even a class D felony and can be prosecuted. Where was the club owner during this and his or her security personnel?

You do NOT have to put up with that.

Both offences deserve and good slapping and tossing out of the bar. Only a brainless turd would lick the headstock of a bass guitar.

As you age, and your band's musical selection matures, hopefully that leads to more mature audiences. But I'm assuming you're young and are playing hardcore, thrashing, loud music which attracts club-goers of that ilk.
Awhile back I've had my share of drunks too close to the stage, or even worse, no stage and knocking mic stands into my bass...not cool. College kids get drunk fast!.
Now, if you can attract women to caress and kiss your bass while playing you should not complain.

It is one thing to lick your own guitar (although that would be just weird) but to lick someone else's guitar, it is just ^@$#%@#$%

Short of damage to property charges, club management needs to eject these people. Maybe both.

+1. I'm finding it hard to imagine a situation where someone getting all up on my bass wouldn't end in them getting f@#ked up.
