i have a summer shopping spree, but im having trouble getting a bass. i already decided to get a precision, but which one should i get? if i get the new American standard, its all i get. but if i get a Mexican, i get a either B-DEC or a rumble 100. what do u guys think?

Only you can really decide what's best for you, but if it were me and I were on a tight budget I'd go with whatever deal got me both the bass and the amplifier.

Heck, some guys here will tell you a new AMS P Bass isn't much better than a new MIM P Bass. I tend to disagree, but a MIM might be all you really need in a bass. They are excellent instruments.

I have to agree with Chet, it always comes down to what you like better. I was in the same situation a few years back. I really wanted a Tele for a recording I was working on but could really only get my hands on a Mexican version. I played it, dug it, tracked it and ended up making it my main gigging guitar for the next several months, it sounded great!

If you want a cheap starter bass I would go Squire precision bass. If you have money left over you can add good strings and get a monster cable. If you still have money grab a distorter for some extra sounds.
