What would be the going rate for a American Special Precision Bass in 3-Tone Sunburst ?
Seller is asking $500.
Not big on the finish

Worth it or should I grab a black Stnd for $200 more ?

Personally I'm not big on which color a bass is as long as it looks cool-- but I always go for USA standard. But I'm also not up to par on the Special . Usa Standard= 700 sounds like a good deal. I can predict that most of the guys here will go std.

Of the two? The Standard. The Greasebucket completely neuters the Special. Though I wouldn't play either model.

That's a great deal, if the Special isn't hacked up at all.

If you're not into the finish now, you never will be. You sound kinda picky like me. Maybe you should buy a new one of your liking, instead.

Picky ?????

Nah

The Specials burst looks too deep and not orange enough

If I had my way I would love Daphne blue. I may wind up going that route also and building my own......

Man it is tempting.

$525 Canadian and I suppose I have enough room to mod it out any which way and not break the bank.
Bass is pretty much 9.5/10 condition.......I'm stoopid not to take this.

But I agree, the one thing holding me back is the look of a 3 tone burst with tort.......

I hate being superficial !!!

I don't know. It may be a good deal, but in the end you like what you like. Even if you get a good price on the bass you'll likely always think about how you compromised on the finish. Though if you like sunburst with another guard that's easy enough, and cheap enough to change. I don't like sunburst at all. However, a B/W/B guard sometimes looks good on them.

My dollars go for the American Standard. It will be worth the extra $200 just in value retention.

Those colors are enough to drive any bassist with a heart to GAS.

I found an Am. Spl. Precision for a good price. A good sound, the neck feels good also. But I went back to the Am. Std. Jazz.

I'll still go with an Am. Std. for a Fretted, or Fretless Jazz though.
