Yes !! after those awesome sounding FenderJazz basses I'm have to say that nothing sounds like a P-bass.... :)
Case in point, check out the sound of Geddy's Jazz Bass from Rush' critically acclaimed
2012 release Clockwork Angels,.....I love this guys sound!! :)

So True Linin,.... Geddy's always had a good Bass tone but on the last 2 Rush releases (Snakes & Arrows & Clockwork Angels) especially Clockwork Angels he's got a Killer sound that sits just right in the mix......IMO & there's nothing to special being done to his sound other than some compression & a touch of overdrive/distortion to (as Geddy says) put a touch of dirt on the notes,.......I wonder if His 2 x AD200MB MK3 Orange amp heads with 2x 4x10" Orange Cabinets had anything to do with his sound on Clockwork Angels,....I know his Orange amps were in the Studio with him during the recording,.....he's been using Orange since 2010. :)
