I just called a couple GC's and they don't stock any. Their response was,"Nobody buys them.". I've come to realize just how many bassists are intimidated by them. Yeah, they take longer to get comfortable with, take more effort to play, but it's worth it.

It certainly is. While there aren't many songs my current band does that I would use one on they are certainly a good tool to have in the arsenal. For really well crafted layered music where you take your time a fretless opens up so many possiblities. The use of intonation to "color" notes, or as transitions in between half steps to build tension, and the smoothless of it all. The notes seem to blossom into new notes instead of having a definitive hard transition. I'd think for as much as I'd use one I would be comfortable at the Squier pricepoint. There are some really, really nice Squiers out there. However, I don't trust the QC enough to buy one online. I'd need to have my hands on it first, jmo.

Yes to all the above.

Obviously you've discovered the mysteries that lie within a fretless. Some find it some don't i guess. I've spent hours narvelling at what mine will do.

I'm afraid I'd buy the Squier if it sounded good. I DON'T need it, but I'm a sucker for lonely basses in cold, dark music stores. :D

It may be well that there are none to be found. Hopefully all I'll end up buying is a glass slide and another stand.

I've had more time on fretless than I realized. I forgot the MIM Fretless Jazz I had.

By the way OX, how did all of this Fretless Jazz Razzmatazz, get into the Precision side of town? Image

You disregarded the rules of common decency and good manners.

You know what you did!

Which board. Fretted, or Fretless?

Yes sir, I agree with you. The playability of Windy is incredible too. Very good tone, and the mellow, deep sounds from it also. I know I'm being repudiative, but both Electric Lady, and Windy were really assembled fantastically.
