I've been looking at an American Series Precision from 2003. But it doesn't have a string-through-body bridge like all the others seem to have. Also the truss rod has to be adjusted at the headstock instead of the body side of the neck.

Can this bass be a real American Series Precision?

Sounds like a Highway One. I had a 2004 Jazz Bass from that series that was pretty nice. I would've rather had the Precision version, though.

The Highway's cost a little less, just to give you an idea of what to pay. You could get a brand new MIM Standard Precision for probably the same amount(most Highway's sell used for around $600.), which would really be a better instrument.

Thank you Wild!

I was able to take some pictures. Can anybody confirm this is a Highway, or is it something else? The serial number is Z3025937.

Thanks a lot for replies!

Nice bass. It looks like somebody buffed the finish to a gloss. The sunburst imo is way more appealing than the usual blue you see from that series. Is that ash, anyone? Never seen that.

The bridge is what I don't know about. The early Highway's I've seen had heavily grooved saddles. Maybe somebody knows for sure...

This is an early HWY1. Grooved saddles didn't came into surface until 2006 when Fender redesigned the series to resemble more to CBS-era instruments. Post-2006 HWY1 basses do have a Posiflex truss-rod system with graphite neck reinforcements and a Grease Bucket tone control.

Keep in mind the HWY1s were replaced by the USA Special series as of 2011.

Though the USA Special basses lacked off the BadAss II bridge - having less colour options than the HWY1s - they offer the choice of both rosewood and maple as fretboard materials.

I'm confused over this Precision. I can't tell from the pics if the body is original, which appears to be made of 2 piece ash. More pics would help. If it is all original, that's one very special bass imo.

Something wrong with my camera. I couldn't take a closer picture. But the body is 4 pieces even! Don't you think it can be alder?
