Hello, I also have a 1975 Telecaster according to the ser # 619xxx stamped on neck plate. There is no date that I can find on the butt of neck, except there is a long stamped #1393414, or maybe one more 4 after that. It has R Armenta stamped on the neck butt, and RA in the neck cavity of the body where neck joins. Do you think this is the original neck ? The headstock decal patent #'s match a 75 neck I saw for sale on E Bay.Thanks for any help..

Neck code "1393414" with a "Ghost" 4 at the end breaks down as follows:

13= Telecaster (Several models of Teles got a lucky 13.)
93 = I don't know what that would mean! I actually think it is really a smudgy 03 maybe. If it is 03 = fretted maple neck OR skunk stripe neck with rosewood board
41 = 41st WEEK
4 = 1974
The "GHOST" 4 you think is there = THURSDAY

I think it is a logical guess to say this neck passed in inspection October 17th, 1974.

The number pair that I'm changing from your reading of 93 to 03 had to be one of the following:
00 = rosewood fingerboard
01 = rosewood fingerboard
03 = fretted maple neck OR skunk stripe neck with rosewood board
10 = fretless maple neck
So I'm going with 03 since you see the 3.

The smudgy 4 you think you see at the end should actually be there. You have more intact legible numbers than most and if the 93 is truly an 03 and if the "Ghost" 4 at the end really is a 4, then I'd say that is how to decode the neck stamping.

I can't say if the neck is original to the body, but do not see anything to say it isn't a factory pairing either. Would like to know the pot codes and pickup codes if you ever get a chance. It really was not unusual for a neck to languish around the plant before assembly.

You might want to re-post this in the TELECASTER forum instead of the P-Bass forum. You might get better feedback.

Hi Brotherdave....This is what I got off the pot on the Telecaster. They both look really original, and the numbers that are easy to read are on the bottom of one pot as follows : 015479 1MEG AUD and 3047349 Thanks again ! , Buddy V.

3047349 decoded.
304 is the mfr code for CTS
73 = 1973
49 = produced during the 49th week of the year

This would be a pot code you could expect to find in in a stock 74/75 model. You would not find it in a 72 model since the pot wasn't made yet. As long as everything predates the serial date as parts wind their way through inventory, you're in good shape. It appears the pots are very likely original.
