Well it's Official,.. The Fender Hi-Mass Bridge has replaced the BadassII on most artist models,.... The Marcus Miller Jazz bass, Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, Nate Mendal P- Bass & the Mike Dirnt Road worn P-Bass,...... the images for all these basses except the Mike Dirnt P-Bass (which has yet to be updated) now show the artist's model with a Fender Hi-Mass Bridge,.... the Hi-Mass bridge on the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is now referred to as the Geddy Lee Custom Hi-Mass Bridge,..... the only artist bass that still sports a BadassII Bridge (at the moment) is the Steve Harris P-Bass,.... I knew this was going to eventially happen,.... I also think this is a good thing,.... I really like the Fender version of this bridge ... hopefully they'll start selling it as a replacement Bridge in the Bass Bridge section of the accessory Dept....... :)

I like that. It's keeping it all in the family, so to speak. It says Fender on the Bridge, and has the same designed shape to it. 8)

Excellent! The BAll is a good design. Just made by a failing company. That does look good on the GL Jazz Bridge.

I got one of those for the Squier Jazz a few years back. I suppose it must have been remaining stock, if they've been out of business for a long time. Great bridge, though. 8)

I also had BAll on a Fretless Fender about 11 or 12 years ago. A great bridge is right.

Whatever happened to them, do you have any clue? They just go out of business, or something? I should try to look that up online, and see if there's any info about them.

I heard different stories about what happened to the company.

Leo Quan products are not being manufactured and it is uncertain when or if they will again be available with the exception of Badass II Chrome un-slotted bridges which seem to trickle out in small quantities to dealers and parts houses once or twice a year and many dealers have waiting lists to get them. Frankly the bulk of Leo Quan Inc's output in recent years has been bought by one company, Fender.

The Leo Quan website is gone and the domain is for sale. The business has not vaporized entirely though and Glen Quan is in charge of what is left of Leo Quan now. What is left is the designs and the brand. There is no longer a Leo Quan manufacturing facility and everything is outsourced. The current corporate address of 561 Darien Way in San Francisco is actually Glen Quan's residence and that is where the Leo Quan Inc phone number rings. That company just doesn't need to deal with the public anymore when they can sell their entire output by the boxcar load to Fender.

Before Fender started buying practically everything Leo Quan could produce their customer service was so bad it was for all practical purposes non-existent anyway. There is no need for a web presence since Leo Quan doesn't really care about little guys that buy bridges one at a time, even though that was how their business initially got built. If you want to call Glen Quan in San Francisco the business phone number at his house is 415-681-6650. Good luck with that.

Be sure to read brotherdave's commentary quoted above. I'll only add that most of the BadAss bridges offered on various auction sites are counterfeits made of cast pot metal. I'm glad I bought mine in 1985 and is solid cast brass and heavily chrome plated. Yes it added nearly two pounds to my already heavy '76 Precision.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that he even posted that, since this thread is a couple of years old. The bridge that I have on the Squier Jazz seems to be pretty solid, and works really well, so maybe I didn't get a fake one.
