I cannot get my bridge pickup to work at all. My Neck and middle pickups both work fine. I ohmed out my neck and middle and both were around 5K ohms each respectively. My bridge pickup is open. I checked between all three wires Red,White and black. Since I am going to have to replace it. I am finding it difficult to find the part. It seems that fender is making it difficult to order the parts. My authorized Fender store said that they are getting "Sticky" and making it difficult. Has anyone got any suggestions perhaps for some good other brand pickups? Keep in mind that this is a Five String American deluxe Precision bass. It is the Dual Jazz bass pickup
for the bridge that is bad. Part number is 004948800 as specified in the list of materials.

You might want to ask Fender Customer Service about that... because if I had a quarter for every time some guitar shop guy told me something that:

A) was completely made up on the spur of the moment to make himself sound like a Cool Guy insider

B) was completely false

C) was invented because he didn't feel like working that hard

D) all of the above

... well, I'd use the quarters to buy a Master Built Strat. I'm not saying he's not telling you the truth, but claims that "Fender doesn't want to sell you this stuff" should be investigated, not taken as fact.

CAFeathers is correct, Bill Lawrence designed the pickup that is in the bridge of your bass. Though the pickup was initially designed for the Fender Roscoe Beck Signature V Bass, Fender did use it for The P-Deluxe V. I know Fender discontinued the RB V. I don't the P-Deluxe V on the Fender Quick Reference guide. If they have discontinued that bass, that would make it difficult to get some parts.

Personally I broke a G string machine head (made by Hipshot) on a RB V. Fender sent a replacement machine head that was the same design, though not the proprietary finish that was used with the RB V.

In the case of the pickup, as CAFeathers suggested, maybe you can get a replacement directly form Bill Lawrence. I would call Fender directly to be certain that they do or do not have the pickup in stock. It is not toll free. Also plan to sit on hold for a little while. But eventually you will get a real person that will be more than willing to help answer your question.
