I had one, the black P in my show your precision post has the neck off my Big Block P. (incredible neck, btw, plays smooth and has a great smokey tone) All in all a great bass, it'd still be together if not for a tragic falling PA speaker accident. (8ft. high!!!). Be warned though, my controls took a hit and while trying to find a replacement circuit I got the run around from more then one Fender Service Center about the parts. Apparently, they claim it has a part number, but when they look it up to order it, the system says it doesn't exist...wether that has now been rectified I'm unsure. Basically, just don't drop any heavy equipment on it from high up. lol

It's a really nice bass, very powerful, yet can do refined really well. The active bucker with coil tap gives you almost an approximation of what a split or single coil P would sound like if they were possessed by the devil. The double J bucker and 18V preamp circuit is really amazing with that coil tap. It was cool because when you really dug in the preamp would break up the signal and it would sound just like old school tube break up. Very sweet. No tone control, but the treble/bass, boost/cut more then makes up for that. Sounded amazing with rounds or flats.

The only thing I really didn't like about that bass was the bridge. I'm unsure if they're still using the same model as I've never seen it on another bass. It was solid enough and wasn't too bad to intonate, just really big and bulky and not very attractive. A BAII would have been a better choice IMO.

It runs about 7 bills new, but it's worth every penny. Plays and sounds as good as it looks.
