Nice looking bass! Funny how they follow a good owner home like that, just as happy as a bass can be. You don't have to feed them or walk them, but they do get loud once in awhile. LPB is one of those colors that is just right.

LPB for me, looks good with Maple Boards. In 1968, I had a Gibson SG Jr. 6 stringer in Pelham Blue. Similar to LPB. "Karma" is a good Axe, that's going to get a case to live in soon. SKB, or Gator.

LP Blue...maple fingerboard....passive p-bass...what's not to like :?:

Guitar player in our band has a LP Blue Strat, maple neck. I always liked that guitar. He's owned it since mid/late 80's. Now he has a 60th Annv Tele that he plays, but every now and then pulls out the Strat. :)

This is the first time in close to 45 years I've had two basses at the same time. The LPB PBass just worked out well.
I bet that LPB Strat is an Axe, and a half! 8)

Mr. Nylon,

Try the SKB first. I keep both on hand, but recently put a 52P in a SKB and it fit like a glove. I like the Gator for oddballs because of the full neck support, but the body usually has room to move around. Especially nice for smaller scales.

I am not home until next week Thursday, but if this is still a question then, let me know and I will be happy to send SKUs and measurements,

The Seymour Duncan SPB3 is the number one replacement P-Bass pickup probably and also a top stock one in several Fender models. However my mother said that one should not jump into the fire just because everyone else did.

I have used the SD SPB3 Quarter-Pounder in several basses, mostly MIM ones. And I've used the Fender Original Precision Bass pickup which was the stock pickup used on the 62 American RI P-Bass as well. I like the Fender one better for what I do most, but they both are good just very. very different tone-wise. The Fender is probably a hair bright to pick play unless you just barely crack the tone a hair. It sounds great with flats. The stainless poles on the SD still are not as time tested as Alnico either. The older I get the more critical I've become of overwound pickups and the more in favor of full range tone I've become. Neither the SD SPB3 nor the Fender Original Precision pickup are overwound and both have lots of sparkly highs. I think the SD SPB3 is hotter in output but also it seems to be missing some midrange emphasis present in the Fender. The SPB3 also has in it's favor that it is very very very sensitive. Volume is not everything though. The Fender is the fullest range split coil P-Bass pickup I ever used and loud enough. Picking a bass pickup because it is louder is like picking a bass amp because it has more watts. More watts in a bass amp doesn't always mean better tone.

Also if I had that LPB P-Bass with a white pickguard I might give more than just a passing thought to the Dimarzio DP122. That is a real edgy sounding pickup. Might like that the look of that white covered pickup with the white guard and also might like the way it can edge up Nylons making them sound more aggressive.

I'm pretty sure one of those three would be a top choice. I also would not overlook the WILDE by Bill Lawrence completely, but it is another animal altogether. If I was going to use a series/parallel switch I'd for sure weigh the Wilde and the Dimarzio because they are noted for versatility when used that way.

Thanks man, It's going to be a couple of weeks probably before I'm able to get around town to check out the cases anyway.

Hello BD.
Good info there, as always sir. I'm not in any hurry to change out the stock pup anyway, or at all. It sounds pretty ding dong good as is. It's putting out a real crushing sound going through the Markbass. It plays well with the Nylons also. Image
I might want to change out the PG though to a White Pearl PG. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the excellent overall finished Fender product. Everything on it is a quality fit, and finished PBass. The LPB finish is perfectly applied as well. YESSSSSSS!!! Image

OK! Thanks SV. I couldn't pass it up. Or down. And besides, I had an extra set of Bister Dylon strings to go right on, NASCAR style.
