Hey All,
After seeing all the awesome shots of P Basses it made me wonder what these beauties were being played through. So, what kind of setup does everyone have? I use an Ampeg SVT-3PRO running through a tiny bit of FMR Audio RNC Compression into an Ampeg SVT-15E cabinet. On the floor I mainly use just a Big Muff for those down and dirty parts. I'd be curious to see what other setups are being used out in the bass world, thanks!

My gig rig is my SWR 550X through my two Fender Pro 115's. For practice I use one of the 115's and my 74' Bassman 100.

O.K!

Like it says at the bottom, I HAVE A MIM Precision, running through a Gallien -Kruger Backline 210 with a 2 x 10 extension cabinet.

I use a Tech 21 Bass Driver DI (which is amazing), and a Digitech BP80, (only for the tuner).

I expect a delivery from Musician's friend tomorrow, a Behringer 8 channel mixer. Not anything real fancy, just looking to expand my horizons a bit.

Another reason for the mixer, I'll be able to play any time I choose, I keep strange hours and won't have wifey foaming at the mouth.

How about recording setups? Any preferred methods?

Generally if I go direct for recording I go Post EQ out on the back of the SVT-3PRO into a Radial DI into the line input of a Universal Audio 2 610 and on to the interface. Sometimes I'll just plug right into the UA 610 to use it as the Pre-Amp depending on what the song is looking for.

Any takers on recording geekery? :D

All the best,

For recording I prefer my 74 Bassman 100, and my 115 mic'd with my Shure Beta 52. For DI, my 550X is great, post EQ of course. That's what I used on my bands last trip into the studio.

The last couple of recording I've used my Trace Elliot combo 350w direct to the mixing board. That thing has a line out for recording. I like the result on those recordings.

I am a spoiled bass player, I only play tubed amps. I have an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro (American) with an SVT 4x10 HLF (also an American) MXR El Granda Bass Fuzz, Dunlop Cry Baby Bass 105Q Wah, Tech-21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI set to SVT settings. My basses are all Fenders, My two main basses are a mexi jazz with custom shop pickups, and a Japanese Aerodyne Jazz. I have a fretless jazz and a 5 string deluxe active MIM Jazz. Thats my giging rig. For recording I use my SansAmp with the SVT settings with an Ampeg BA-115 or my SansAmp with a 60's Ampeg B-15 fliptop. I love my gear so much. It took me a long time to get!

I got a '96 MIM P-bass with BA bridge, custom paint, retro bridge cover, running through a Peavey 1/2 stack, 375 watts, 4 tens. I use a touch of distortion on a few songs.

I use a 450 watts Peavey T-Max bass hybrid head and two Carvin cabs (a 2x10 and 1x15). To record I use the Digitech BP80 because its also a preamp and amp and cab simulator .

Right now, I use an Ampeg B2RE thru a B410he, which is kept at my drummers house. At home, I have an Ampeg BA-115 combo amp. Various pedals with my favorites being a Tech 21 SansAmp VT Bass, MXR M-80 Bass DI, and EHX Stereo Mistress and Nano Stone.

I want to get a GK 1001RB-II, and a GK Neo210 and Neo212.
