I extensively researched but all the threads are a bit dated so I thought of posting a more Punk sound oriented topic.

I heard the Custom shop 60 pickups are quite good but I wonder how they compare to SD Quarter pounder SPB-3 everybody seems to load for this kind of music.

I heard the CS are more like a SPB-2/1?

Otherwise, the bass is good as it is right now. No mods for now but I'm still wondering if I should try some SPB-3. Anybody tried them both for rock? Interested in Studio experiences if possible as I just got it for recording purposes exclusively.

For Punk I would say use the SPB3 Quarter Pounders- They have lots of out put. Not the best for tone but with Punk I would imagine all you want to be is loud and cutting thru. Right? If so the big Quarter Pounder magnets will get the job done. IMO- not everyone agrees with me on that but that's nothing new. Same thing with flat wound strings. I'd say for Punk don't use them- they say use them. Oh well. :D

:?: WAIT ONE MINUTE---- okay I listened to your song. I don't call that punk music. That's "young guy Rock". You need good bass tone . I thought the sound of the bass on the recording was just fine. Why would you want to change it? As far as the recording goes you can make the bass sound like you put different pickups in it anyway. Save your money.

That's a really good point there, thanks. Aboout the bass, I struggled a LOT and it's fine but I really need something easier to play and some more mids/hi-mids. I'll test it out soon ;)
