The great thing about Squiers is that they're cheap used and you and modify them and not worry about losing your investment. I have four of them right now. One of my FrankenSquiers is the neck and all the hardware moved over to a Telecaster GUITAR body. The Telecaster body is just barely long enough to accommodate the bridge and preserve the proper bridge-to-nut length. But I digress.
I am now in the process of mounting a Telecaster guitar control plate and pots to a Precision bass, and wiring in two Precision pickups. The one already on it will be moved toward the neck a bit, and the second pickup will be mounted about the same distance from the bridge as the bridge pickup on a Jazz. I am thinking this will give me some new sound possibilities.
I will fill in the current routing for the original pickup with Bondo. Done this before; works just fine.
Am I overlooking something here? Pots are pots, right? Tell me if this is a really dumb idea.

If it is what you want to do and you can afford it, do it. I'd do a P/J instead of 2 P's, but that is just me. There's no reason you want do what you stated.
