Keep it! I would never sell one of my instruments. Theyre not even worth that much, but with all I have some good memories. They all have names as well, it would be like giving your child away for me hahaha.

Keep it! I hope I will never have to sell my P/Bass. I bought it back in the sixties I have earnt a living with it and meny good memories along the way. There is hardly any paint left on the back of the body were my belt buckle has worn the finish away, the paint is worn to the wood by the pick guard the screws are black with sweat, dings and dents around the body. I can recall all the incidents as if they were yesterday. The wife dislikes it she complains it make the house shake. If I sold her it would be like selling my past that’s the Guitar not the wife.

Whoa... I can relate to all of your stories. I may be the oldest dude here, maybe not...my biggest regret was selling my 1957 single coil Pbass back around 1983 - bought for $75 sold for $800, but in hindsight she had the mojo and now I'm getting into the blues - ugh! But at the time she didn't have the sound currently needed on the rock scene. I was playing Hollywood clubs with Van Halen, Blasters, etc before they were signed. I also sold an old Gibson EBO that had a black covered p/u - not the usual chrome HB. Also had a few 70s Pbasses - nothing special. Fortunately, I have hung on to other guitars: 1946 Gibson Southern Jumbo, 1962 Strat, 1974 Alembic (which is the greatest to play but I don't care for all the knobs and gadgets, etc). I have recently purchased a 5 string Michael Tuttle Pbass (bestfrets.com) and it is one of the greatest custom basses I've played. He is also the best fret man in the West. My latest buy is a 1968 tele bass which needs a new pickguard - anybody have an original that can be traced. Most if not all knock offs do not fit properly. Thanks for the chat...

Not a chance of me selling my '75 that I bought new in '77.
I have bought other Fenders along the way, and I have given my '75 a much needed rest, but I would never get rid of it.

I just sold a 76 Precision that I had for about 10 years. I hadn't played it in almost 2 years so it had been sitting in the case. I have 2 other 70's era Fenders and an Alembic so I figured I would sell the one that I never use.

Some years ago I had a 78 p-bass which I sold because I didn't feel it was versatile enough, and I bought a stingray.

The stingray lasted all of 2 gigs - and I began my search for another 78 P-Bass, there is a lesson to be learned here!!

It was only a long time after that I found my new perfect partner - a see through blonde 78 with maple neck and black scratchplate. oooh baby. She is the envy of all other bass players I've shared a bill with.

Long Live the P-BASS!!

I've only ever sold one guitar--my first-- a cheap-o acoustic. No regrets there. I never formed any attachment to it though. I am considering selling one of my guitars--but I rarely use it ( it's a Les Paul copy--and I have a real Les Paul.) As for my Mustang--it's a 78, but I'm keeping it.

If you like it & use it--keep it.
