You need to host them somewhere like photobucket or imageshack. Bass OK?

Ok bass arrived. Stripped her down, cleaned her up and took photos of her intimate spots...IMHO this bass has all the correct markings and exemplary construction to qualify as a genuine/ official Fender Japan creation...

Thoughts?

I don't see anything out of character for a Fender Japan Custom Edition instrument. The gold hardware is a frequent characteristic.

I forgot to say how happy I am for you. That is a very scarce professional caliber instrument from the Fujigen Gakki bass shop in Matsumoto. These rarely ever come up for sale in the USA. You are extremely fortunate. The only way to get one was to order through a Fender Japan dealer and only in Japan. They were mostly sold through Yamano Gakki shops. You paid in advance. You waited weeks and weeks for the call that it is in unless you found a demo and they were willing to sell it to you. The order process was something that few people beyond professional players were willing to go through, so there are far fewer of the Custom Edition basses around than you might think. Since they were sold only in Japan that reduced the market even further. Fender Japan only distributed Custom Editions within Japan and they were never officially imported by FMIC.

Very nice, indeed.

I agree that it is scarce in the USA. I would like to say more, but I hate to talk without solid knowledge. Okay, I will anyway, you talked me into it. I have seen this bass, or similar, several times on both the Asian and European markets. The gold hardware and the bridge position of the pickup make it pretty recognizable. However I do not ever recall seeing the Custom stamp. I am going to assume that sets this piece apart from its brothers, the same way it would in the USA.

I enjoy the looks of this bass a lot. To my eye, I wish the pickup was a little further north, but it is so simple, so clean....it is just gorgeous. For a fast sale dial 1-800-affprod. Just kidding of course, but if you want me to test it for your, say for a couple years, just let me know.

Nice bass.

Thanks for the kind comments.

I too was concerned at first with respect to the pickup position. I wasn't sure what it was going to sound like...maybe too much bite? Surprisingly enough, it is an extremely "tight" sound/ tone...not as treblely as you might think. The vintage Bartolini has alot to do with that.

Brought the bass around today to a couple of my regular music shops...and everyone was blown away aesthetically and by the playability. One person described the feeling of the neck as "home"...and the fore mentioned "tightness" was noted by all within earshot. You would be surprised how most people and staff in both stores came to investigate what kind of bass was making "that sound". Everyone complemented it. One of the stores's managers (bassist) literally begged me to sell it to him.

Suffice it to say, as I cleaned this bass up last night and studied its components there is no doubt in my mind that this particular bass is a one-off with respect to character, tone, playability and build quality. The closest bass that I can compare it to would be my 2012 American Deluxe P-Bass with respect to craftsmanship, and this bass score higher in that department.

yes yes yes! 8) Congrats - looks great! Love the tele headstock. The serial # is in the right place and the stamp on the back of the headstock is a nice touch!

Great read for me, though I just bought a P-bass that I hope is a no-fake Japan custom edition. I would love to take a look at your pictures, but the links are no longer valid, it seems?
On the back of my bass it's just a sticker that says custom edition, and also a sticker with the serial on the neck, close to the body.
